PROTECTING AND RECYCLING EXOTIC SHELLS
The Exotic Seashells that we use are gathered either by diving or beach collecting and used as a life sustaining food source by the local native peoples. They then sell the shells to distributers. This income supports their local community creating prosperity for the native population. Other Exotic Seashell Species are aqua farmed in an eco friendly manner, creating prosperity for the native population. We never use any endangered species in any of our art work. PLEASE NOTE: Effective 10/29/2018 NOAA Fisheries announced a final rule to list the chambered nautilus (Nautilus pompilius) as threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Thus we will not be selling any of the prototype Nautilus products contained in our " web store coming soon" picture at the very bottom of this page.. Thanks to the Monterey Bay Aquarium for their vigilence, inspiration and providing timely information. !

Obviously the fact that the ocean sustains all life on our planet is not enough reason for mankind to keep the sea clean and vibrant. We take it for granted that the ocean can heal itself from pollution. Our Mission is to create yet another wake up call by recycling and placing some of the oceans exotic beauty in mankind’s daily living environment as “ the messenger “ for the oceans and our … sustainability.
The Ultimate Collaboration :
Oceanic Artisans who follow the Laws of Nature as a basis for their new artwork design, essentially collaborate with the creator.1 Patrons of this artwork share in this collaboration as well. Thus together we can form a team that asks the question “ why would anyone want to destroy some of the most beautiful things that nature can possibly produce.” Together we can support, promote and achieve the Sustainability of Oceanic Beauty.

The Tranquility Reef Oceanics Gallery exists — to improve your quality of life in several ways. Through our contributions, based on your purchases, it helps to save our environment and simultaneously beautifies your personal or public living space.
In addition, on a daily basis you will be astounded by the utility and overwhelming colors and luster of our unique “recycled homes of exotic sea life“. Holistically they will warm your soul.
To achieve this harmony of utility and beauty and to reveal each seashells underlying exotic uniqueness, each one is put through a complex process of cleaning and buffing from its natural state to remove its outer protective layer.
When finished, only the finest examples of rare pearl shells, abalones and other exotic species are selected, then matched by shape and size for their specific planned utility. At this point they are now ready to join your living environment not just as a decoration but as a contributing “messenger” for the Sustainability of Oceanic Beauty.

Hanging in our studio, this framed poster with glass reflected the morning sunshine one day as one of our artisans walked by wearing a newly created eyeglass frame enhanced with Exotic Pacific Abalone Seashell. It was a visual anomaly — one that we have all experienced. The artisan claims it describes perfectly his connection to the sea — and stewardship responsibility.... and nothing more...

Our Artisans’ Philosophy - We use a whole seashell species as an artistic expression — and turn it into a functional, utilitarian masterpiece. Next, we create coordinating artwork made from parts of the same seashell. Seen together the whole seashell explains the coordinating items origin, and tells a story.
The Ancient Zen Art of Exotic Seashell “Onlay”.
Referred to as Lacquer Ware or the native “ Najeon Chilgi,” our artisans have studied the masters and adopted this technique to create shell appliqués for accessories. Matching the whole seashell from which it originated and our other artwork the appliqués include Cell Phone Cases, Eyewear Frames, Body Adornments, Writing Instruments and Clock Dials & Hands. New applications are developed almost daily.
Please Note: Our Sea Flowers (ABALONE) collection is grouped by color blue, green and tan for simplification to indicate their predominate color. Green does not indicate the species haliotis fulgens which is typically named as “ the Green Abalone of CA. & Mexico.” It does indicate that many of the abalones we use from all over the world have a green all over color.
We never use any endangered species in any of our artwork.
